The Alberta Chapter of Carl Orff Canada and the Alberta Kodály Association teamed up for a fantastic workshop on January 28, at Elizabeth Finch School. We were all thrilled to welcome our clinician Thom Borden from Las Vegas, whose workshop was entitled, "Treasures of Literacy". His presentation included a wide variety of activities, all based on quality children's literature that addressed musical skills and concepts. We sang, danced, rhythmically spoke, played instruments and recorders...and had a blast! Thom's high energy, engaging manner, and enthusiasm were infectious and invigorating. Everyone came away with a treasure trove of new ideas for lessons, games, activities and literature that is usable right away in the music classroom. Many thanks to the organizers from both the Orff and Kodály boards. If you're interested in learning more about Thom, you can visit his blog at http://thomborden.blogspot.ca/

A life that is filled with music can bring us joy and can make our lives brighter. People are all talking to each other and I can see that they have a common role in this life. Musical Intelligence will be used in these activities and it will bring many benefits in their lives. Those instruments that are being used will bring meaning to our lives. I want to be part of this group. 12/13/2017 02:31:56 am
