Due to unexpected circumstances, our Fall Online Workshop with Kim Friesen-Wiens and Dr. Kathy Robinson will be POSTPONED. Stay tuned to our website and social media for a new date coming up this fall.
PLEASE NOTE: If you have already registered for this workshop, you will not have to register again. Registrations will remain open for anyone wanting to join us once a new date has been announced. We will be recording the workshop and will send it out to all registrants.
Our Alberta Orff Chapter virtual AGM

Alberta Orff Chapter members - WE NEED YOU to come and be a part of this short AGM!! We will give our yearly update to let you know the latest news, and you'll get a chance to meet and vote in the new board members for the year. We will also have a special presentation honouring the late Laura Storey, a longtime Alberta Orff Chapter member who passed away in spring 2021.
All AGM attendees will have a chance to win a $25 gift certificate to our online BOUTIQUE, which is full of great resources for your music classroom. There will be THREE prizes given out!

Honouring Children in our Music Classroom
A virtual workshop with Dr. Kathy Robinson and Kim Friesen Wiens
This two-hour session will explore songs, books, instruments and creative music activities which can honour the lived experiences of our students and forge a deeper connection with and between each of the students in our classes. Participants will walk away from the session with musical activities, strategies and resources to use in the classroom as well as ideas to be developed for the remainder of the year.

Kim Friesen Wiens has taught elementary music for over twenty years. Kim is an endorsed movement instructor for the Orff Levels at the UofA. She is working on her PhD in elementary music education at the University of Alberta with a focus on critical music pedagogy and culturally responsive music teaching.

Kathy M. Robinson is an Associate Professor of Music Education at the University of Alberta. She has presented and published research focused on world musics in education and culturally relevant pedagogy and is an active clinician with more than 100 presentations given on five continents.
