Last Saturday September 20th, fans of, and past and present members of Carl Orff Canada Alberta Chapter met to celebrate at the Executive Royal Inn. A wonderful meal was shared as many reminisced about many of their favourite Orff memories. Sarah Lillian was on hand to provide superb entertainment at the start of the evening. Later, Keri Lynn Zwicker and her husband treated everyone to a performance of harp and bohdran music that journeyed through the celtic and beyond. Kerri also deftly lead the group in a number of sing-alongs. Orff instruments, ukuleles, guitars, and drums accompanied while the sweet sound of singing spread through the air.
Both Judy Sills and Bob de Frece were on hand to speak to the room about their own journey through life as Orff experts. Judy recounted the early days of Orff, remembering how she started the organization and recalled the joy of early trips she would take to study with Doreen Hall in Toronto. Details as to how she came to work with Jos Wuystack and bring him to Edmonton to teach was also recounted. Bob talked about how fate seemed to fell him into a life of Orff through his association with Jane Frazee and how he brought back so much Joyous Orff to the Edmonton area. Everyone in attendance felt privileged to be a part of something so great while hearing about the background of the Alberta Chapter. Many happy memories were made as everyone got together to play, dance, and sing. Comments are closed.
