Workshop Description
This workshop works through the creative process using the Orff media, from movement exploration, to melodic and harmonic composition. Using the teaching sequence of imitate, explore, refine and share, music fundamentals will be taught using repertoire that can be used for beginner-advanced students at any grade, fostering creativity sequentially.
Presenter Biography
Joy Reeve holds an M.A. in Curriculum Teaching and Learning, a B.Mus. in Music Education, a B. Ed., and is an Orff Levels Instructor at the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto. She has taught K-8 music for over twenty years, offering both Orff and choral programs. She currently teaches in Toronto, directs the Music Champion Singers and has been the Choral Program Coordinator at the RCM. She is the author of three books, which were written to inspire teachers and students to be imaginatively and holistically involved in music making and creation. Joy is known for her creativity, enthusiasm, and practical approach to music education, offering various courses and workshops throughout Canada, and internationally.
