After the success with Sherryl Sewepagaham's online resource released through the Alberta chapter, it was decided that another online resource was the best way to go for the second workshop of the year. Based on Garth Prince's work, these slides cover lessons, songs, and activities covering a range of African music.
Ongoing Covid-19 related measures forced a move away from recording music at the Winspear. Laurel and her family worked hard with Garth and his family to create the videos and music parts for the video sections of the slides which were sold online through the Orff website. There was a followup discussion on presenting African music on the classroom followed with Garth Prince, Dr. Kathy Robinson, Dr. Kofi Gbolonyo, and Dawn Pemberton. A great discussion followed that was an excellent way to recognize Black History Month.
