With profound respect and admiration for Liselotte & Carl Orff in the wake of Frau Orff's passing in 2012 and in honour of the 40th anniversary of Carl Orff Canada, we wish to celebrate the legacies of Orff-Schulwerk & Carl Orff Canada with our Fall Banquet this September 20th. Please read more to learn further details about this very special upcoming event.  Online registration is available for this event!
This fall the Alberta Orff Chapter of Carl Orff Canada is very pleased to offer a very special opportunity to celebrate all of the wonderful things that are "Orff."

Liselotte Orff (1930-2012) , the late wife of Carl Orff, left a generous donation to Carl Orff Canada upon her passing in September 2012.  Frau Orff continued to actively support the legacy of Carl Orff after his death.  With a particular interest in Orff-Schulwerk, she promoted Orff's works and influence as the long-standing director, and later as an honourary director, of the Carl Orff Foundation.

In addition to our desire to honour the memory of Liselotte and Carl Orff in the wake of her passing, we also wish to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Carl Orff Canada.

The Orff approach was originally brought to North America through the efforts of Arnold Walter and Doreen Hall.  At the University of Toronto, Doreen Hall began to teach the first courses in Orff-Schulwerk in 1956.  Later in 1974, Carl Orff Canada was formed with Doreen Hall as the first president.  With British Columbia as the first official chapter, more were to follow.  In addition to providing local support for teachers, Carl Orff Canada also continues to provide a national conference every two years.  The next one will be in April 2016 in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.  If you are interested, you can read more about the history of Carl Orff Canada here.

The evening will be an exquisite affair allowing us to build our community by celebrating together.  We will have live entertainment provided by Sarah Lillian and Kerri Lynn Zwicker.  In addition, Orff instruments will be on hand to perform "Sing From the Heart," by hometown hero Dr. Bob de Frece which is the piece officially commissioned by Carl Orff Canada for the 40th anniversary.  We will also have the chance to engage in music-making together just for the joy of making music.

With the profound respect and admiration for Liselotte and Carl Orff, Doreen Hall, and all those who have served the music education community through Carl Orff Canada, we wish to honour them all with our Fall Banquet this September 20th.

We earnestly hope to see all fans of Carl Orff Canada to help us celebrate the legacy of Carl and Liselotte Orff as well as the 40th anniversary of Carl Orff Canada.
